Ms. Boop
I am Ms. Boop and I am so excited to be back with the Hilburn family for my seventh year of teaching! My Project-Based Learning Classroom is focused on student inquiry and hands-on learning. I come from a very close-knit family and want to create a sense of community and family in my classroom. I am so excited to be teaching both sixth-grade social studies and seventh-grade science!
I was born on Long Island, New York, but grew up in Cary, NC. I graduated from Green Hope High School in Cary. I attended Appalachian State University as a Teaching Fellow and graduated in May 2012. I have my Master's from UNC-Charlotte in Education.
In the summer of 2013, I was awarded a Kenan Fellowship. I worked in labs at NC State learning more about microbiology, immunology, and DNA sequencing. I developed state and national curriculum for the 4-H organization. In the summer of 2016, I traveled to South Africa on a fellowship experience. I cannot wait to share it with you all! I also traveled to the Middle East in November of 2016 for another fellowship. I was able to go to many different schools in different regions of the world and see the similarities and differences from the US. I frequently travel in my personal time so I can share more of the world with my students and encourage them to explore! During the summer of 2018, I worked in a Biomechanics Lab at NC State!
Some hobbies of mine include hiking, playing soccer, running, traveling, any outdoor activity and reading.
You can find me on Twitter as @SSwithMsBoop.
